For the first time, a full-length Zoom Strobel unit has been combined with a full-length ZoomX Foam to deliver responsive cushioning, on par with that of a marathon shoe. On the upper, internal straps help provide optimal support. Underfoot, exclusive herringbone traction leaves defenders baffled. Durable canvas is combined with a leather toecap and a rubber outsole for a distinctive look. Cushioning. Bounce. Traction. These shoes make everything far too easy.

The Air Jordan 40 "Infrared" are inspired by the iconic Infrared colour, associated with the Air Jordan 6 and Michael Jordan's first championship in 1991. This shade symbolises intensity, energy, and competitive spirit, and on the AJ40 it is used as an accent over a black base to connect Jordan's historic legacy with a modern design.

This version is also referred to as the Air Jordan 40 "All-Star", a reference to the spirit of spectacle, excellence, and prominence that defines the NBA All-Star Game. This name reinforces the idea that the Infrared colour represents moments of maximum visibility and performance, aligning the shoe with basketball's elite and Jordan's legacy on the biggest stages.
