The Nike Book 2 "Must Be Denim" are a tribute to the historic Kentucky Wildcats college team that won the NCAA championship in 1996. That team, known as "The Untouchables", became famous not only for their dominance on the court but also for occasionally wearing special uniforms with a denim look, something very unusual in basketball.

The colorway of these shoes recreates that look. That's why the upper is designed with materials that mimic the texture of blue denim, combined with white details and royal blue tones that directly recall the traditional colours of the University of Kentucky. With this, Nike aims to convey a mix of 90s nostalgia and college basketball culture.

It's also a nod to Devin Booker's relationship with the university. Booker played one season at Kentucky before reaching the NBA.

UPPER

A mesh system on the upper provides firm and soft support for quick cuts and sudden movements in true Book style.

OUTSOLE

The modernised herringbone traction pattern was inspired by Book's love for the Air Force 1, taking references from the pivot circles of traditional basketball that provide grip and durability.

MIDSOLE
