The Puma MB.05 "Hive" is directly inspired by LaMelo Ball's connection with the city of Charlotte and the Hornets, whose nickname and fan culture are identified with the idea of the "Hive". This concept symbolises collective energy, constant movement and community, reflecting both the team's atmosphere and LaMelo's role as a central figure within that hive of supporters. Visually, the colourway is based on the Hornets' characteristic colours (teal and purple) and applies them boldly and, in some details, asymmetrically, reinforcing the creative, unpredictable and unconventional identity of Melo's game.
